The subject of Lush Landscapes began with painting scenes of abundance from nature. Utilising this concept and approach, emphasizes the texture and movement of what I term as (lushing) scenery in a vivid way, using bright and unorthodox colours. This gives an abstract impression of the whole scene, leading to a dreamlike quality through the unusual presentation of the work. Using the medium of oil paints on canvas brings out a pleasing art piece, which adds a lifelike likeness to the painting. There is a certain quality and depth to the scenery, which highlights the wild and natural feeling of the landscape. A dreamist scenario begins to unravel, as spontaneity exists between the painter and the scene, which in principal harmonises with the composition. This draws everything together in a dramatic effect. It borders on magical results projecting out towards the viewer, portraying an intense experience.
The first oil painting on canvas begins a series of Lush Landscapes, titled Girl Picking Flowers. The scene depicts the wonderful abundance of nature. In the background is a panoramic view of trees and bushes, some of which are in flower against a light blue sky. In front of these is a lake picking up the same colour as the sky. A field of wild poppies is the setting for a tall tree and bushes covered in blossom. Grassland with bluebells and meadow flowers makes up the foreground. Within this wonderful vista, a mother and child are walking through, until the girl excitedly decides to pick a meadow bouquet to take home.
